Manchester United have confirmed the signing of defender Patrick Dorgu.

The Denmark international joins from Italian club Leece and becomes the first new major signing of the Ruben Amorim era.

United are believed to have paid £30million including various add-ons for the 20-year-old, who underwent a medical on Saturday before signing a five-year contract with the option of an additional 12 months.

Dorgu joined Leece from Danish club FC Nordsjaelland as a youth player in 2022 and has since made 53 appearances for the Italian side after making his debut in August 2023.

Amorim has been without a specialist left-wing back for most of his tenure at Old Trafford so far, with Luke Shaw only just returning to training following an injury.

Diogo Dalot has largely operated out of position there under Amorim, though Dorgu will now provide a more natural option to the United boss.

Dorgu is able to play in that role, though has also been deployed on the right wing this season.
