Patrick Dempsey befriends donkey in the rain whilst filming Disney flick in Ireland

Patrick Dempsey could be set to take Matt Damon’s title as the nation’s new favourite Hollywood star as he continues to gush about Ireland on Instagram.

It’s not all work and no play for the Hollywood heartthrob, who is in town to film Disney’s Enchanted sequel, as he has been posting snippets of his running trails, and scenic strolls since his arrival.

But he may have topped Damon’s infamous Supervalu bag swimming trip this week, when he got up close and personal with a donkey in a field for a selfie.

Donning a flat cap, and an amused smile, the Grey’s Anatomy star, best known to fans as Dr. Dreamy channelled his inner ‘Shepherd’ and said: “My new trusty steed.”

It comes after the 55-year-old US star posted a number of gushing posts to his 6.1 million followers about his new Irish base, as he makes the nation his home whilst filming the fairytale film alongside Amy Adams.

He previously captured another moment during a walk in the countryside, saying: “This place is incredible.”

Filming for Disenchanted will take place until August in locations including Dundalk, Dublin city, Greystones, Enniskerry and the RDS.

Amy Adams has also announced her arrival to Ireland online, saying: “I am in Ireland, where I’m getting ready to start filming on the sequel to Enchanted, which I am very excited about.”

Fans got a glimpse of her new living quarters as she filmed the video from her kitchen decked out with flowers and a candle burning on a dining table in the background.

Thirteen years after the original fairytale hit theatres, Adams is returning as the leading lady, Giselle, in Disenchanted.

Grey’s Anatomy’s Dempsey is also returning as Robert and he revealed that he’d be singing publicly for the first time in the upcoming movie.
