Patrick Cutrone explains Wolves transfer ahead of £16million move from AC Milan

Patrick Cutrone says he’s excited to seal a £16million move to Wolves - after being dumped by boyhood club AC Milan.

Italy international Cutrone flew to England on Monday to undergo a medical and put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal at Molineux.

Cutrone, 21, had initially been reticent to leave the Italian side, whom he joined at the age of eight.

However, he of the United States early at the weekend, after being told by new Rossoneri boss Marco Giampaolo that opportunities would be severely limited this season.

That saw negotiations between his advisors and the Premier League club step up, with the player accepting the deal on offer in the Black Country.

Speaking at Milan Malpensa Airport on Monday, Cutrone admitted he is disappointed at being forced out at Milan, but is looking forward to life in the Premier League.

"Reading all the messages from the fans made me emotional," said Cutrone, speaking to Italian media. "It means that I’ve done a good thing.

“Am I disappointed? Well you have seen yourselves, I have nothing to say. I am always ready and charged.

"I wish the best for Milan fans and my teammates.

"My departure from Milan affects me as well but that’s life and some decisions are taken. I will look to do my best. Now I only think about integrating well and doing well there.

"I’m ready and excited to join Wolverhampton. It’s a big challenge for me.”

Cutrone - who could potentially cost £20million - will become Wolves’ second signing of the summer, after they completed the loan signing of Jesus Vallejo on Saturday.

Portuguese boss Nuno has been desperate to beef up his frontline, having allowed both Helder Costa and Ivan Cavaleiro to depart.

With Raul Jimenez only returning from his summer break last week, Wolves have used England Under-21 international midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White in an advanced role during their recent Premier League Asia Trophy triumph, and their Europa League opener on Thursday night.
