Patrick Cantlay shows how ridiculously punishing the rough is at the U.S. Open

It seems like it’s an annual event before the U.S. Open: PGA Tour pros take out a golf ball, walk over to the rough at the course that’s usually set up to be extremely impossible, drops it in and shows how impossible it is to get it out.

In 2017, it was Kevin Na. Last year? Ian Poulter did it.

This time, it’s Patrick Cantlay, who stood at No. 9 at Pebble Beach, shouted over the high winds by the ocean and had the person holding his camera toss a ball in. Of course, it was super impossible to find and just as hard to knock out.
