Here is the Leeds United digest for Monday, September 14.
Bamford on 'frantic' Anfield defeat
Patrick Bamford believes Leeds United have shown they are capable of competing in the Premier League, following their pulsating 4-3 defeat at the hands of Liverpool.
Leeds came from behind three times, only to eventually go down to a late Mo Salah penalty.
But Bamford, who found himself on the scoresheet, believes the game showcased the capabilities of Marcelo Bielsa's side.
"It was frantic," he said. “I think before the game if somebody had 3-3 we’d have taken it.
"Getting so close and losing the game, even though we played quite well in patches, is annoying and frustrating.
"We showed a lot of character to keep coming back when we went down and we’ve shown that we can compete with the best of the best."
Shearer hails 'magnificent' Harrison
Alan Shearer certainly knows a thing or two about scoring goals, and it's safe to say he was impressed by United's showing at Liverpool.
One man in particular who seemed to stand out was Jack Harrison, whose goal at Anfield had the Match of the Day pundit purring on Saturday night.
"They were magnificent, they had more possession than Liverpool, they had a great attitude, a performance full of energy, hope and loads of belief and confidence," he said.
"But, this goal I like, this is what I was on about by committing men forward, look at that, there’s six players in the final third, looking to get into the danger area.
"A brilliant ball in from Costa, the run is from Klich between Jones and Wijnaldum and how about that for a touch and finish with the volley, and that sort of epitomised everything that was brilliant about Leeds.”
Souness pays Leeds massive complement
Graeme Souness believes Leeds United's performance at Anfield will serve as a perfect reminder of just how hard it will be for them to retain their Premier League title.
“I think that has been a great night for Liverpool in the sense that the manager can say that this is what they’re going to get, you’re the champions, you’re everybody’s cup final,” he told Sky Sports.
"Everyone is going to work as hard between now and the end of the season. I think Leeds have done Liverpool an enormous favour tonight."
