Patrick Bamford ruled out as Leeds United's Jesse Marsch reveals Jack Harrison and Mateusz Klich concerns

Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford won’t be fit enough to take on Tottenham Hotspur this weekend, Jesse Marsch has revealed. Bamford is struggling with a hip injury and hasn’t featured for the Whites since the win over Liverpool.

The striker dropped out of the fold in the build-up to Leeds’ win over Bournemouth at Elland Road after picking up the issue whilst taking a penalty in training last Friday. Marsch had hoped to see the striker fit to travel to north London, but it seems he will be left at home.

Leeds will also be without Mateusz Klich, who has a minor knee complaint following Wednesday night’s trip to Molineux, while Jack Harrison is currently rated as a concern. The winger has suffered a muscle strain and the club’s medical team will make a late call on him before Saturday afternoon’s clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The head coach also delivered updates on the fitness of Archie Gray, Adam Forshaw and Stuart Dallas on the eve of the World Cup break.

“So Archie Gray has turned into a little bit of an ankle injury and so we're in a situation, with his age and he's still growing, that we have to shut him down for about six to eight weeks,” he told the media in his pre-match press conference. “It's a little defect that he has in his ankle that kind of got highlighted when his toe got broke.

“It's unfortunate. I spoke to Archie a little bit today he's obviously down about it but we think given his age and his maturity, physical maturity, this is the best thing for him.

“Adam Forshaw has been training hard back out on the pitch and if the Tottenham match was maybe three days later, we would consider him probably eligible for the match but it at least means that he should be ready to when we get back after the World Cup to get into training and get himself back to 100%.

“Stuart's making great progress as well and we'll see how that goes. But maybe we can get him on the pitch at some point towards the end of December, early January.

“Patrick is out for this match. He still hasn't recovered. Klichy took a knee knock in the match against Wolves and he'll be out. And then Jack Harrison is a little bit questionable with a muscle strain but we're hopeful that in the next 24 hours he can recover and be available for tomorrow as well.”
