Patrick Bamford on the effect Leeds United's promotion partying had on Derby and Charlton games

It's been a week unlike any other for the current Leeds United squad.

Five days after their promotion to the Premier League was secured, the team got their hands on the Championship trophy at Elland Road on Wednesday night, sparking scenes of wild, champagne-soaked celebrations.

That capped almost a week of partying in West Yorkshire, with plenty of Leeds players posting social media clips of them enjoying themselves after ending the club's 16-year wait for Premier League football.

Despite having an unassailable lead at the top for the past two games, the team have not let their standards drop, winning 3-1 at Derby County on Sunday, before sweeping aside Charlton 4-0 on Wednesday night.

Speaking after receiving his winners' medal, Leeds' leading goalscorer Patrick Bamford spoke about the challenge these final two games presented, given how the squad have spent the past few days.

"It's hard, isn't it? The last two games when we've already achieved our goal without playing, it's sometimes hard to get yourself up for those games. But I think that was testament to the lads, to the staff how well we did and how well we played.

"Against Derby I think our running stats were through the roof, whether everyone was fuming off alcohol, I don't know!

"We did the club proud this season and we've kind of topped it off with two great performances."

Bamford was also reminded of his teammates Adam Forshaw's quotes which said Leeds would 'romp it' - and after finishing ten points clear of West Brom in second, he proved to be right.

"Yeah, let me tell you, obviously in the Championship you go through ups and downs," Bamford continued. "Really it's about the teams that can manage the down times as well as possible. So in the end ten points seems crazy to win the league by. It was tight at times and it's been a tough league.

"There's not been one easy game this year and I think everyone kind of makes the league what it is and it's been a fascinating year."

And Bamford's verdict on getting his winners' medal and being a Premier League player?

"Yeah, it sounds good. I'm looking forward to getting my chance and I can't wait to get started."
