Patrick Bamford left breathless by Leeds United's fast start against Middlesbrough

Patrick Bamford believes that Saturday’s 4-0 victory over Middlesbrough was one of Leeds United’s best performances of the season.

The striker opened the scoring against his former club after just three minutes and from there the Whites didn’t let up to record their biggest win of the season.

Bamford now has three goals from his last four appearances, having endured a goal drought of ten games without a goal before that. He’s now scored the first goal against Blackburn, Luton and Middlesbrough as Leeds have made it five wins on the bounce.

“It was one of our best performances of the season,” said Bamford, speaking to LUTV post-match.

“There was a spell in the first half where they got into it a little bit, but the second goal came at the perfect time and I think we dominated the game.

“To be honest, the first 10-15 minutes I couldn’t get my breath because we were right at it with attack after attack and we probably could have been three or four goals up, we started well and carried it on.

“It’s all about putting a bit of consistency together and to record five wins on the bounce is important as well.

“We have to go into the next game with the confidence we showed today.”

Next weekend, Leeds will be looking to make it six in a row as they travel to the John Smith’s Stadium to face Huddersfield for the first time in two years.

Eddie Nketiah returned from injury in Saturday’s win, appearing from the bench as Leeds saw out their four-goal lead.

The Arsenal loanee is still waiting for his first Championship start this season and will provide competition for Bamford over the hectic Christmas fixture pile-up.
