Patrick Bamford hits out at VAR after another disallowed goal in Leeds United's defeat to Wolves

Patrick Bamford has hit out at VAR after seeing another goal ruled out in Leeds United's defeat to Wolves.

The forward thought he had equalised for the Whites when he ran through on goal and produced an unstoppable finish past Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio.

Yet VAR adjudged that Bamford's knee was narrowly ahead of Wolves captain Conor Cody's heel when running onto the ball, meaning the goal was ruled out for offside.

It added to the frustration for the Whites, with the winning goal in the 1-0 defeat a freak own goal after Adama Traore's shot bounced off the post and into the net off of goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

Tweeting post-match, Bamford said his side deserved a point and memed over how VAR was supposed to improve the game.

"Gutted for the lads tonight, robbed of a point," he said with a confused emoji.

"But at least it's 'mAkInG tHe GaMe BeTtEr'. We go again Tuesday."

It is not the first time Bamford has seen a goal ruled out for offside due to a narrow VAR call this season, with the forward furious after seeing a goal against Crystal Palace chalked off in November due to his arm being offside.

It led to the striker accusing VAR of ruining football.

"I don't understand the rule," he said. "You can't score with your arm. It doesn't make sense. It's happened with me today but I've seen it on numerous occasions.

"It's ruining football. You want to see goals. To have it ruled out for something like that is daft. Even the referee couldn't make sense of it. When the players and the officials can't make sense of it, does it make sense?"
