Patrick Bamford's classy gesture as Leeds United star helps local schoolchildren

Leeds United forward Patrick Bamford is used to being on the receiving end of things including getting that final touch, having scored ten Premier League goals already this season.

Less frequently, he is the provider, but he has saved his greatest assist yet for Beeston Primary School in Leeds.

The 27-year-old has donated £5,000 of his own money to the school, allowing for 20 iPads to be purchased for children currently struggling to access remote learning.

Why are Leeds struggling going forward?

Bamford also issued a video message to the children, urging them to work hard and focus on their studies throughout this difficult and unusual period. It is an incredible gesture of goodwill, displaying an impeccable attitude towards community welfare and the spirit of giving something back.

Leeds United supporters have reacted with overwhelming positivity on social media, commending the striker for his decision to help the children of Beeston Primary School.

Bamford knows the importance of good education, having been offered a scholarship at renowned United States institution Harvard University, which was earned on the back of impressive A-Level results.

According to a 2018 interview with the Yorkshire Evening Post, Bamford can speak French, Spanish and German to a good standard, as well as playing four instruments including the violin and saxophone.

He has certainly struck the right chord amongst Leeds United supporters and the local community in general with his latest gesture.

A statement from Beeston Primary School, obtained by the YEP, read: "We are absolutely blown away by his generosity.

"When he learned how many children and families are struggling to access remote learning at home he personally donated £5000 for the school to invest in technology which can be loaned out.

"Thank you so much Patrick Bamford; we are all so grateful for your kindness."

Bamford's generosity did not just stop at iPads however. In his video message, the striker stated he would be remaining in touch with the school in order to reward hard-working students with prizes in due course.
