Family-run cafe Patricia's Coffee Bar has finally opened, after three floods, lockdown and countless false-starts.
Serving up sensational south side coffee and brilliant breakfast brioche buns, Patricia's - found at the former home of Fern's Flowers on Victoria Road - was named after the family's late mum.
Meanwhile, cakes and tasty treats come via Patricia's sister site, the wildly popular Short Long Black coffee.
Owner Darryl explained: "Our family has taken over the site due to the former owner’s retirement.
"The cafe is named after our late mum, who frequented Fern’s and loved all things floral. Local graphic designer Cathleen Nyman designed the logo of a lily - paying tribute to our mum’s favourite flower and also as a nod to the previous business.
"Our current menu is take-away only: breakfast brioche buns. We make our own Lorne sausage patties, as well as vegan cashew cheese. Cakes are made via our sister company Short Long Black, also located on Victoria road. All our coffee is sourced from Glasgow’s oldest speciality coffee company Thomson’s who are based in the southside."
Meanwhile, based in the heart of Govanhill, the team behind Patricia's are keen to use the cafe to promote the local community.
Darryl continued: "We wanted to work with as many local businesses as possible, and our bar top is made by Govanhill-based company Mirrl, and our tableware is made by southside potter Claire Henry, from which we have a small selection of one-off vessels for sale.
"Not only is this a space for food and socialising, advocacy for mental health is something that is close to our hearts. The physical shop space has potential for multi-use and once it’s safe to do so, we will accommodate mental health groups hosted by YAMS."
Patricia's is open Wednesday to Sunday, 9-3, at 350 Victoria Road.
