Australian artist Patricia Casey’s exhibition Murmur features her signature photographic montages on georgette, watercolour paper and archival cotton. Casey often deals with themes of memory, dreams and imagination, and Murmur is another example of this exploration.
Her pieces are heavily embroidered. Casey says the act of working with a needle and thread reawakens muscle memory, as meditative, repetitive work takes over. The embroidery forces a sense of stillness, as the viewer must focus on the artwork, underneath tiny stitches of glitter and thread.
