Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has told Jamie Carragher to "stay in his lane" after Cristiano Ronaldo's historic goals on Thursday.
Ronaldo scored the 800th and 801st goals of his career in a 3-2 win over Arsenal, helping the Red Devils' recent upturn in form following the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The 36-year-old forward returned to Old Trafford for a second spell in the summer and he's been prolific in front of goal.
However, Ronaldo's inactivity out of possession has prompted questions from some as to whether the forward can be effective in a high-intensity team, something that is especially pertinent following the appointment of Ralf Rangnick, who demands front-foot football from his sides.
In the past, Carragher has shared his concerns about that point, including a recent heated debate with United legend Roy Keane on Sky.
"I'm not criticising Ronaldo as player," he said. "He's a phenomenon. I said it mid-week with [Lionel] Messi.
"PSG have signed Messi, United have signed Ronaldo. Two of the greatest players of all time.
"Are United closer to the league title than they were last season? No. Are PSG closer to the Champions League? No. You speak about goalscorers, you bring your own input to the team, but it's a team game."
The comments were clearly still front and centre in Evra's mind, as he wasted no time in putting the boot into Carragher when analysing Ronaldo's performance on Amazon Prime.
"Some players...like Jamie Carragher," he said. "He's played 775 games, today Cristiano has scored 801 goals. And those type of people talk about Cristiano.
"I just think people have to stay in their lane...some people wake up and they just want to talk about Cristiano."
While Ronaldo has been among the goals since rejoining United, the team are in seventh in the Premier League, 12 points behind leaders Chelsea and 10 back from Liverpool.
