Patrice Evra sends Manchester United fans wild with Sir Alex Ferguson meeting

Former left-back Patrice Evra sent Manchester United's supporters into something of a social media frenzy after meeting up with his former manager, Sir Alex Ferguson.

The defender, who featured in Soccer Aid 2021 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening, took to his Instagram page on Monday afternoon to share a photograph of himself, his girlfriend - Margaux Alexandra - and his son alongside Ferguson at an outdoor dining spot.

Evra was brought to United by Ferguson from French side Monaco in 2006 and became a mainstay in the team almost right from the off, playing a key role in the success the Reds enjoyed during the final few years of Ferguson's tenure at Old Trafford.

In the caption for the picture, Evra joked how he had told his girlfriend that they were "going to have lunch with the pope". Alexandra thought that Evra was taking her to Italy. Instead, the Frenchman had planned to have lunch with Ferguson in Manchester.

Unsurprisingly, Evra's post attracted plenty of attention from United's supporters and comments began to flood in.
