Patrice Evra sends direct message to Ed Woodward after Man Utd's defeat by West Ham

Patrice Evra has called on the Manchester United board to give him a job following defeat by West Ham in the Premier League.

The former Red Devils left-back has been linked with the director of football role at United - a role that hasn't previously existed at the club.

His name was thrown in the mix when it became clear the Old Trafford club were seriously considering appointing someone to oversee transfers - a practise that is common in Italy.

Other names in the hat include former players Edwin van der Sar and Rio Ferdinand.

Taking to Instagram after Manchester United's defeat by West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon, Evra posted a picture of himself from a few years ago in his Red Devils kit.

Alongside it he wrote: "I think it's time to get our hands dirty! Manchester United board, are you ready to let us help you guys?"

Manchester United went behind just before the break after Andriy Yarmolenko opened the scoring for the home team.

West Ham continued to dominate in the second half before Aaron Cresswell made it two with five minutes to go.

Reflecting on the defeat, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: "It's always a difficult ground to go to and we hoped to do better than we did.

"We hoped for better. But the key moments they grasped and we didn't. They had two fantastic finishes from two left feet, we just didn't take the chances when we had them."
