Patrice Evra's WhatsApp conversation with Cristiano Ronaldo as Man Utd deal announced

Patrice Evra has shared his WhatsApp conversation with Cristiano Ronaldo after Manchester United agreed to re-sign their former player from Juventus.

Ronaldo, 36, will be a Red Devil once again so long as he passes a medical and agrees to personal terms with the club, which he played for between 2003 and 2009.

The Portugal striker reportedly agreed personal terms with Manchester City on Thursday before the deal fell through and he decided to return to Old Trafford.

Ronaldo's decision will bring delight to United fans, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his other former teammates - none more so than Evra.

The former Red Devils left-back took to social media minutes after United announced the signing to share his conversation with Ronaldo.

It appears the five-time Ballon d'Or winner knew as early as Friday morning he would be returning to Old Trafford, although it is impossible to know which time zone Evra is currently in.

The former France international sent an unknown message to Ronaldo and received a response saying: "My bro. All good. Things going well. And you?"

Evra - who spent three-and-a-half seasons playing alongside Ronaldo - replied with an audio message, perhaps asking about his next move or urging him to re-join United.

Ronaldo replied by saying: "You're the man. I'm gonna play in our club."

Evra clearly did not believe his friend and responded with a number of laughing-crying emojis, adding: "Stop laughing bro, I'm not your clown."

Ronaldo simply responding "Ahahaha" before the messages disappear off the bottom of the screen.

Evra captioned his post: "People have to calm down sometimes!!! He say he’s coming home. relaxxx man. now i can post it.

"BIGGEST TRANSFER IN FOOTBALL HISTORY."

If the messages were indeed sent and received on Friday morning, Ronaldo was announced by United a matter of hours later.

He leaves Juventus with two Serie A titles and a Coppa Italia winners' medal to his name after a goal-laden three-year spell.

"Today I depart from an amazing club, the biggest in Italy and surely one of the biggest in all of Europe," Ronaldo wrote in a heartfelt tribute on Instagram.

"I gave my heart and soul for Juventus and I’ll always love the city of Turin until my final days.

"The “tiffosi bianconeri” always respected me and I tried to thank that respect by fighting for them in every game, every season, every competition.

"In the end, we can all look back and realize that we achieved great things, not all that we wanted, but still, we wrote a pretty beautiful story together."

He added: "I will always be one of you. You are now part of my history, as I feel that I’m part of yours. Italy, Juve, Turin, tiffosi bianconeri, you’ll always be in my heart."
