"City are still alive here... Balotelli... AGUEROOOOO...!! I swear you’ll never see anything like this ever again, so watch it, drink it in.”
An iconic moment in history from Martin Tyler as Sergio Aguero wrapped up Manchester City's first ever Premier League title.
However, at the Stadium of Light, Manchester United supporters would go from scenes of jubilation to the lowest of lows in the space of seconds.
Sunderland fans would taunt their Premier League rivals with the Poznan - a celebration synonymous with City's first title win.
Speaking to FourFourTwo, Patrice Evra has given an insight into the Manchester United dressing room in the immediate aftermath of the game and how the Red Devils bottled the emotion for motivation the following year.
Here's the full transcription from Evra's interview with FourFourTwo:
Q: " Going into the final game of that epic 2011-12 season against Sunderland, did you feel as if the title was yours? How difficult was it losing out to Manchester City on the final day? Rich Pope, Crawley."
Evra: " I was telling the players on the way up that I could see myself lifting the trophy. I said, “Let’s do our job and I promise you guys that we will be champions.”
"We finished the game and thought we were champions… then 25 seconds later, Sunderland fans cheered.
"I will never forget the way that Sunderland fans celebrated – it was like they’d won the league."
Q: "How much did losing the league title galvanise the boss and team going into 2012-13? Was there a different mentality going into that season? Jade Craddock, Worcester"
Evra: "A lot. It was a good lesson for us. Ferguson’s speech that day was so strong – Danny Welbeck was crying and some of the players were really emotional.
"The manager said that he wanted us to hear the Sunderland fans celebrating, to remember our pain. Then he said, “...and next year, we’ll win the league.”
"I knew when we got our consistency back that we’d do it by a lot of points. Robin van Persie’s arrival helped, but we did it by a long distance the following season."
