Patrice Evra criticises Manchester United player Marcus Rashford vs West Ham

Patrice Evra attempted to deflect the blame away from Paul Pogba after he gave away a penalty during Manchester United's 1-1 draw with West Ham as he questioned the performance of Marcus Rashford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side found themselves a goal down at half-time after Pogba raised his arms to block a free-kick that was heading for his face.

Michail Antonio scored the resulting penalty, awarded by VAR, before Mason Greenwood equalised after the break.

Pogba's actions drew stinging criticism from Gary Neville on co-commentary.

“He’s in trouble. He’s in big trouble, Paul Pogba. He’s in big, big trouble," Neville said. "He’s given a penalty away and he’s pretending it’s hit his head. It’s rubbish from him. Rubbish. To think, I felt a little bit sorry for him, I thought he took a whack on the head.

"Embarrassing. I don’t know why VAR are looking at it for this long, to be honest - it’s a penalty. He shakes his head.

"Is he trying to make out he’s got a bloody nose? No-brainer, I don’t know what he’s looking at.”

Evra, however having refused to defend Pogba at half-time was in no mood to criticise Pogba again after the final whistle, insisting questions should instead be asked of Rashford after a poor display from United's No.10.

“People are commenting a lot on Paul Pogba, using a lot of harsh words," he said at full-time. "I didn’t see any harsh words on Marcus Rashford, because Rashford had a poor game today.”
