PATNA: Unidentified armed criminals shot a youth near Saidpur hostel under Bahadurpur police station area in Patna city on Wednesday evening.
The slain youth is Golu Kumar Singh (24), a native of Bahadurpur village in the area. He was first shot in the shoulder then in the head from behind from a very close range. Though he was rushed to a nearby private hospital but doctors declared him dead.
Police said that Golu is accused in two murder cases and a firing case. They said he had come out of jail after being granted bail by a court around three months back. Police also said that Golu had opened fire at the entrance of Saidpur hostel a few months back. The incident took place at around 2.30pm.
Bahadurpur police station SHO Sanovar Khan said that Golu was going to Patna railway junction on a bike to drop his maternal uncle when he was intercepted by the suspects.
“They entered into a scuffle with Golu at the spot which he tried to resist. Amid that, one of the suspects pulled out a pistol and shot Golu killing him at the spot. The uncle was an eyewitness to the entire incident,” he said.
Khan said that police strongly suspects that Golu’s murder as fallout of his rivalry with dwellers of Saidpur hostel which was going on since long.
“Police are going through CCTV camera footages of neighbouring areas to locate the killers and ascertain their identities,” he added.
