Patna schools gear up to hold summer camps

PATNA: As the summer vacation has started in several city schools, the school administrators have planned various sporting activities and events for summer camp for the students to keep them engaged. Some of the schools have also planned extra or special classes for students of classes X to XII to complete the syllabus.

Fr A Christu Savarirajan SJ, principal of St Xavier’s High School, said, “Today was the last working day for students before summer vacation. From May 21, the kids can enjoy the camp to be organized on the school premises. This year, we have planned activities like swimming, painting and classes of art and craft, western and classical dance (Bharatanatyam) and basketball. The summer camp will go on till May 28 from 6.30am to 9.30am.”

At Notre Dame Academy, the summer break has started from May 13. However, extra classes are being held for class XII students to complete the syllabus.

The teachers at Loyola High School said different sporting programmes like of volleyball, basketball, table tennis and other indoor games have been lined up after May 19.

Glenda Galstaun, principal of St Dominic Savio’s High School, said the school has planned short trips for students from May 21 to June 1 to water park, Shri Krishna Science Centre and museum. “At school, students will enjoy various activities like zumba, swimming, skating and pottery. It is for all classes except X and XI,” she said.

Sr Josephine CJ, principal of St Joseph’s Convent High School, said many activities are taking place in the morning hours (6am to 8am) and evening (4.30pm to 6.30pm).

Mary Alphonsa, principal of Don Bonsco Academy, said the school will organize a special cricket camp for girls and other activities like dance and Madhubani painting for students. “We are still planning activities as the summer camp will start after May 20, which is the last working day for students before vacation,” she said.
