CHAPRA: Ace electoral strategist-turned-political activist Prashant Kishor, who is on his 'Jan Suraj Yatra' in several districts of the state, on Monday criticised the Centre's short-term armed forces' recruitment scheme- Agnipath, on the ground of making the youth devoid of better service conditions as compared to the existing practices in the armed forces.
Addressing a press conference at Chapra under his Jan Suraj campaign, Prashant said the youths stand firmly in opposing the change in service conditions under Agnipath scheme. "The reduction in service tenure to four years is a matter of concern. Another concern is no provision of pension," he said.
He said that his remark was in reference to the queries raised by a group of youths to him at Gopalganj that if elected representatives can get pension, then why it has been stopped for army jawans under Agnipath scheme. "Though, the two issues should not ideally be linked, but there are certain issues in Agnipath scheme, which the aspirants have rightfully opposed," Prashant said.
Speaking on the caste census, Prashant said the parties which want to conduct the caste census in the state should also make it public, otherwise it will not be of any benefit to the common people. "It is more important to make caste census public and to act accordingly than to merely conduct it," said Prashant while addressing a public meeting at Ekma block in Saran district.
He also recalled his journey from being a public health expert in the United Nations to being a poll strategist and now coming back to his homeland Bihar.
