Patients' fright as large tree collapses on to medical practice

Patients of a rural Stirling medical practice received a fright when a large tree fell on to the roof during Friday’s stormy weather.

The towering tree, believed to be a lime, came crashing down on to the Aberfoyle Medical Practice surgery around 9am.

The building was quickly evacuated and nobody was injured in the incident.

Crew from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended to make sure that the area was safe.

The tree left a large hole in the roof, above a stairwell, and displaced a number of tiles.

A tree surgeon and roofer attended and drew up plans to repair the building and remove the branches.

Practice manager, John McLeod said: “Following the incident, the doctor and nurse went to the practice at Buchlyvie and patients were sent there for their appointments. They were very understanding about the whole thing and luckily nobody was injured.

“When the tree came down it made quite a noise.”

Following the repairs of the roof, the practice was re-opened to patients on Monday morning.
