Patient taken to hospital after car smashes into column outside Sainsbury's in Trafford

A patient was taken to hospital after a car crashed into a column outside a Sainsbury's store in Trafford.

It is unclear at this stage how badly injured the person was following the smash at the supermarket in Sale.

A spokeswoman for North West Ambulance Service said they were unsure whether the patient was the driver or a passenger in the car.

A second person suffered a leg injury in the crash but did not need to go to hospital.

No pedestrians were involved in the crash, the spokeswoman confirmed.

Police were called at around 10.30am today (Tuesday) to the store on Curzon Road.

Photos from the scene showed an area had been taped off around a damaged column.

A car was pictured being taken away on a tow truck.

A spokeswoman for GMP said: "At around 10.30am today, police were called to reports of a collision at Sainsbury's on Curzon Road in Sale.

"Officers attended and the driver was still at the scene. Ambulance crews are there."

Nobody was arrested, the spokesman confirmed.
