- A 63-year-old patient is fighting for his life after an alleged hammer attack at Sydney's Royal Prince Alfred Hospital early on Thursday.
- Viki Graham, 46, was arrested at the scene and charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
- Police allege Ms Graham entered the hospital ward, asked for the patient, and then struck him on the head with a pink-handled hammer.
- During her court appearance, Ms Graham claimed the victim had stolen her brother's ashes, with the judge describing the incident as a "gratuitously violent attack."
- Ms Graham was denied bail and is scheduled to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on 4 June.
