Patient, 38, dies with coronavirus - latest UK hospital deaths

Another 101 people who contracted coronavirus have died, including a 38-year-old patient.

Today's tally brings the total number of confirmed reported deaths in English hospitals to 84,467.

England has declared 101 fatalities, compared with one in Scotland, none in Wales and two in Northern Ireland.

By way of comparison, last Monday 131 people died of Covid in UK hospitals, compared to 191 the week before.

The last time deaths were lower on a Monday was on October 26, when the toll was at 103.

Data shows a further 15 people died in the South West - which is the third-highest death toll across the country. The North West reported the fewest fatalities of five.

Patients were aged between 38 and 96 years old. Five people aged between 54 to 95 years old had known underlying health conditions.

Dates of deaths ranged from 5 January to 7 March, with the majority being on or after 3 March.

Their families have been informed.

The number of deaths of patients with Covid-19 by region are as follows:

  • East of England - 9
  • London - 26
  • Midlands - 21
  • North East & Yorkshire - 13
  • North West - 5
  • South East – 9
  • South West - 18

One death was confirmed in Somerset. No further Covid fatalities were reported in Gloucestershire or Bristol.
