Patient, 31, dies with coronavirus as UK hospital deaths rise

A further 231 patients with coronavirus have died in English hospitals.

Today's death toll brings the overall number of people who have died in hospital after testing positive for Covid-19 to 79,120.

Patients were aged between 31 and 102 years old. All except 12 (aged 53 to 92 years old) had known underlying health conditions.

The South West once again confirmed the lowest number of deaths, with 6. The Midland's reported the highest jump of 67.

Date of death ranges from December 24, 2020 to 14 February 14, 2021 with the majority being on or after February 11.

The number of deaths of patients with Covid-19 by region are as follows:

East of England - 34

London - 32

Midlands - 67

North East & Yorkshire - 49

North West - 16

South East – 27

South West - 6

According to the latest government data, more than 200 positive Covid-19 test results were recorded in Bristol and surrounding areas in the latest 24 hours, and a further 10 people have died with coronavirus across the region.

Four of the deaths confirmed on Saturday were in Bristol City Council authority area while three were in Bath and North East Somerset, two in North Somerset and one in South Gloucestershire.
