Patient, 26, dies with Covid - today's UK death figures

Another 12 people have died in South West hospitals after being diagnosed with coronavirus.

The number of Covid hospital deaths in Britain increased by 199 today (March 5) - a drop of 43 per cent on last Friday.

Today's tally has brought the total number of confirmed deaths in English hospitals to 84,091.

Patients were aged between 26 and 102 years old. Six people, who were aged between 61 and 89 years old, had no underlying health conditions.

Dates of deaths ranged from April 13 2020 to March 4, with the majority being on or after March 1.

Deaths of patients with Covid-19 by region are as follows:

  • East of England - 14
  • London - 22
  • Midlands - 41
  • North East & Yorkshire - 25
  • North West - 40
  • South East – 20
  • South West - 12

Two further deaths - in all settings- were recorded in Bristol on Thursday, one in Gloucestershire and none in Somerset.

Since the pandemic first hit, Bristol has now confirmed 463 deaths within 28 days of a person testing positive, Gloucestershire has reported 941 and Somerset 657.
