'Patience' - Why Nottingham Forest midfielder Ryan Yates may have to bide his time

Ryan Yates did very well when he broke into the Nottingham Forest team last year. I really like him as a player.

He’s got a bit of the Roy Keane about him. He’s not afraid of getting stuck into a tackle.

But would he get straight back into the Forest XI, when he returns from injury? For me, not at the moment.

I hope Yates is close to full fitness and giving Sabri Lamouchi, the head coach, something to think about. He’ll give us another option and he’ll no doubt be desperate to play.

But I think he’s going to have to bide his time.

We’ve got strength in depth in midfield, in particular - and I think Yates might have to be patient.

The players who have been playing, have done really well and have put some good performances in. They deserve to keep their places at the minute, if they’re fit.

The situation can soon change, though.

If someone loses form, or there’s injuries and suspensions, Yates can get his chance. Then it’s up to him to take it.

He’ll be keeping an eye on how Samba Sow is doing, I’m sure.

I’ve been impressed with Sow, so hopefully his hamstring problem isn’t serious. But if he needs to be rested or isn’t quite fully fit, then maybe Yates will be someone Lamouchi wants to take a look at.
