‘Pathetic!’ - Tottenham fans fume as Newcastle United close in on £20m Callum Wilson transfer

The new Premier League season is quickly approaching which means clubs don’t have too much time to bring in new players ahead of the opening weekend.

Tottenham are in action on Sunday, September 13 as they host Everton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

That game could see at least two new players make their competitive debut for the club with both Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Matt Doherty.

arriving from Southampton and Wolves respectively.

Jose Mourinho will be looking to add more players in the coming weeks, with particular emphasis on one position.

Harry Kane is the club’s main striker, with Son Heung-min able to deputise in that position if need be.

However, injuries to both players last season led to Spurs having to play without a natural striker for a number of weeks.

That has caused fans to call out for the club to invest in the striking department.

Tottenham have been linked with a potential loan move for Watford man Troy Deeney as well as a move for relegated Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson.

However, it now seems that the latter won’t be coming to Tottenham this summer.

Reports suggest that Newcastle have agreed a £20 million fee with the Cherries with Wilson set to join the Magpies.

And that news has not gone down too well with Tottenham fans on social media.

Wilson has scored 41 goals in 126 Premier League appearances for Bournemouth since earning promotion to the Premier League in 2015.

Eight of these goals came last season as Bournemouth faced the drop back to the Championship.

His form for the Cherries earned the 28-year-old an England call-up in 2018, with the striker scoring in his international debut in a friendly against USA.
