'Pathetic' - Liverpool fans in meltdown as Chelsea take lead in Timo Werner transfer race

Liverpool fans have reacted with anger to the news that Chelsea have stolen a march for Timo Werner.

It was reported this afternoon that the Blues are ready to activate the Red Bull Leipzig forward's release clause before it expires.

Should the move be finalised, it will bring to an end a long-running transfer saga that often appeared to be going in Liverpool's favour.

The Reds are said to have been long-term admirers of Werner and many of their fans were keen to see him move to Anfield

Yet they have now hit out at their FSG owners following the news that he could be close to signing for Chelsea.

CR: Imagine if this flopped.

Homes: Not worried, it's just RBL putting pressure on Liverpool. I still think we will get Werner, the club won’t scout him for months then give up.

Walter: If we want Werner he will be coming to Anfield.

Ernest: It's all part of the game.. They want Liverpool to stop wasting time and make a move.

David: FSG out.

Kent: You mean Leipzig are using Chelsea to force Liverpool into a making a move.

Rehman: We never wanted him anyway.

Danmote: Klopp talking to him just for the fun of it then.

LFC Harry: Pathetic owners.

Coptic: Why let him go directly to a rival? He isn’t insanely expensive, and he’s wanted to join us since day one. These owners are a joke.

Shay: If AFCON happens we won't have any attackers left, we need a new attacker.

Steven: Laughable. Best club in Europe yet we act so small time.

Ninja: Just seen Chelsea have offered him £200k a week, that'll be why Klopp has decided against it. Hopefully there's someone else lined up and its not a case of us being skint.
