Patchway parents' horror as drawing pins left on children's play equipment

Parents and residents in Patchway have reacted with horror after dozens of upturned drawing pins were left on the seat of a see-saw in a children's play area.

Pictures from a park in the Blakeney Road area circulated on the Facebook group Patchway Post on May 27, showing what appeared to be a large number of drawing pins deliberately set out on the play equipment.

The images provoked outrage online, as parents with young children who use the park expressed their shock at the apparently targeted placement of the sharp pins.

One woman wrote: "This makes me so angry. How can we keep our community nice if someone is always going to ruin it for everyone else?"

Another resident wrote: "Omg this had made me so angry!

"How any person could do this to intentionally hurt a young child is beyond me!"

Just last week Bristol saw its fifth park fire in recent weeks when a picnic bench in Meadow Vale Park, Speedwell, was completely destroyed by a blaze, prompting fresh fears of play areas being deliberately targeted by vandals.

In April there were two fires in the play area of Mangotsfield's Springfield Park, causing close to £30,000 of damage.
