MIAMI _ Miami Heat President Pat Riley touched on a variety of topics Saturday at AmericanAirlines Arena, as he reflected on his team's offseason to this stage and looked ahead to what's next for a franchise in a transition mode.
He opened with, "Obviously from my standpoint and the team's standpoint, we've had a tough summer. Period."
And that was about it for any measure of concern for what comes next.
"The process never changes," he said, "faces do."
What he said he hopes will be a new set of winning faces.
"I don't think there's any doubt," he said, "we can compete for a playoff spot."
He touched on numerous elements of one of the most tumultuous offseasons during his 21-year stewardship of the franchise.
