MIAMI _ Pat Riley offered an update Friday on where the Miami Heat stand and where he stands with his team.
In his pre-camp media session at American Airlines Arena, Riley said forward Kelly Olynyk would not be available for next week's start of training camp because of ongoing rehabilitation from the knee injury sustained last month working with Team Canada in advance of the World Cup.
Riley also addressed Justise Winslow recently discussing his preference to play point guard, a starting role held by Goran Dragic.
"We fined him $50,000 and we gave it to Goran," he quipped.
Otherwise, Riley said he is prepared to move forward with a roster overhauled in the offseason, one that now includes Jimmy Butler, who was introduced in advance of Riley's media session.
"We're going to go to training camp with the team and show restraint," he said.
"It's put up or shut up time. This is good team that over the last five years we've had a tremendous amount of adversity. We would like to have a healthy year, a happy year, a hungry year."
Riley said the goal remains same as it ever was.
"We want to win," he said. "We want to win big. I just like where we're beginning the season. I'm excited about it.
"All teams are always evolving."
Including the Heat with Butler.
"I hope he likes it," Riley said of Heat culture. "But it's going to be hard. He's going to find out.
"I think is one of the top 10 players in the league. We're going to find out how he meshes with our team."
