Pat Hitchcock dead: Daughter of Alfred Hitchcock who starred in his movies dies aged 93

Pat Hitchcock has died at the age of 93.

The only daughter of film icon Alfred Hitchcock died in California on Monday, her family have confirmed.

Pat's youngest daughter, Katie Fiala, told The Hollywood Reporter that her mum passed away at home in Thousand Oaks, California, on Monday.

Pat appeared in a number of her dad's films, including Strangers on a Train, Psycho and Stage Fright.

She also appeared in other big-screen productions, including The Case of Thomas Pyke, as well as TV series such as Suspense, Suspicion and The Life of Riley.

She was also involved in 10 episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

Pat's mother, who was married to director Alfred for 54 years, was film editor and screenwriter Alma Revill.

Despite moving to the US from England at the age of 10, Pat told the Post she was raised as an English child.

“I was brought up rather as an English child, so I knew what was expected, and I pretty much always did it," she said.

“You didn’t speak unless spoken to, but it didn’t bother me or have any repercussions. I didn’t know anything else."

She admitted she was very close to her dad when she was growing up

During a chat in 2004 for the TV Academy website The Interviews: An Oral History of Television, Pat discussed working with her father.

She said: "There wasn’t anything unusual about it. Just like with [any other actor], we would discuss the scene and do it. We didn’t try out stuff."

Tributes poured in on social media with fans of the actress sending their condolences.

One Twitter user wrote: "RIP Pat Hitchcock, daughter of Alfred, tremendous actress in her own right. It was a privilege to meet her and talk to her 20 years ago when she attended the Reno Film Festival. I will never forget the wonderful conversation we had!"

"So sad to hear that the news that Pat Hitchcock has passed away. To me she was always the highlight of every film she was in, and her Alfred Hitchcock Presents episode "Into Thin Air" is one of my absolute favorites. She just seemed like such an incredibly sweet person," said another.

And a third commented: "Pat Hitchcock wasn't in many films, but she certainly made an impression in the few she appeared in, especially "Strangers on a Train." RIP."

Pat is survived by her daughters, Mary, Tere and Katie, grandchildren Kelly, Caitlin, Trisha, Kate, Samantha and Chris, and great-grandchildren Ava, Joey, Maddie, Scarlett, Cole, Charlotte, Whitley and Jamie.
