Pat Flanagan comment: 'For bumbling Boris, Dublin meeting was one big game'

First of all what took place in Dublin yesterday wasn’t a meeting, it was a photo opportunity staged by Boris Johnson to pretend he’s doing something to prevent a hard Brexit.

The reality is he really doesn’t give a toss as to what kind of Brexit there is or the disastrous consequences it will have on this country and the UK.

The Tory tried to come across as all friendly, even cuddly and then you realise this is the scheming, cynical would-be dictator who has closed down the Mother of Parliaments for a month at a time of national crisis.

What the Taoiseach did, without actually saying it, was imply that what the Brit PM has been saying about a “clean break” or “just getting it done” is was a mountain of horse s**t.

Actually I don’t think Boris would be too put out if Leo had actually said that because he would probably accept it was true as he doesn’t believe a word of what he uttered.

After all this is the guy who voted for Theresa May’s Withdrawal Agreement and who previously said it would be a disastrous for Britain to leave the EU.

Whatever you think of Varadkar he conducted himself as a leader should while for Boris it was a game, an act, a performance, something to be done for show.

The Taoiseach warned “if there is no deal, it will cause disruption for British and Irish people alike” but he was wasting his breath as Boris doesn’t really care what happens to his own country never mind ours.
