Passport warning for Scots as holidaymakers told to renew before Brexit

New rules will come into force if the UK leaves the EU without a Brexit deal, including warnings on travel and passport.

Scots wishing to after October 31 will have to have at least six months left on their passports to do so.

This includes if you renewed your current passport before the previous one expired, extra months may have been added to its expiry date.

Any extra months on your passport over 10 years may not count towards the six months needed.

So anyone wishing to travel without six months on their passports will have to renew.

Everyone who has been affected will receive a text message from the Home Office if they supplied one when filling our their original form.

The new rules do not apply when travelling to Ireland.

You can check online here for free if your passport needs updating through the government website.
