Passerby injured in firing incident in Haryana's Yamunanagar, 3 held

YAMUNANAGAR: The police have registered a case of attempt to murder after a passerby was seriously injured in a firing incident, after a group of men fired at their rival group in Bilaspur police station area of Yamunanagar district on Tuesday night.

The injured passerby has been identified as Gandhi of Malikpur Bangar village in Yamunanagar district, who is undergoing treatment at PGIMER, Chandigarh.

On the complaint of Manpreet Singh of Chauli village in Yamunanagar district, the police have registered a case against four identified accused Shiwank of Ledi village, Nitesh of Chandakheri village, Shubham Pandit of Marw Kalan and Simarpreet of Tibbi Raiya, under Section 307 (attempt to murder), 279 (rash driving), 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 25-54-59 (punishment for certain offenses) of the Arms Act was registered at Bilaspur police station on Tuesday night.

Manpreet stated that he along with his friends Harsh of Manakpur village, Elondeep Singh of Banghat village, Rishu of Maanipur village, were going to Bilaspur for some personal work in Rishu’s car. He said Rishu was driving and when reached near Malikpur Bangar village, a car occupied by accused persons came from behind. He said accused Nitesh starting firing at him from side windshield of their car, and the bullets hit bumper and guard of Rishu’s car.

Manpreet said he immediately called Dial-112 service.

“The other car was being driven by Shivank, who then sped his car towards Bilaspur while hitting some passerby. Rishu started chasing Shivank’s car, who turned towards Kapalmochan from Chaurahi village. Shivank’s car fell on to the roadside and turned turtle. The accused people fled into a sugarcane field. The police reached and nabbed accused Nitesh, Shubham and Simarpreet from sugarcane field”, stated Manpreet.

The complainant said about two months ago Shubham and Simarpreet had fights with him in Khanuwala village and a college at Bilaspur, for which, they were keeping a rivalry, therefore, they attacked on them.

He said one passerby Gandhi of Malikpur Bangar village, a migrant labourer, was hit by bullet fired by accused people.

DSP Bilaspur said, “Three accused were arrested after the incident while one is a absconding. Efforts are being made to arrest him. The injured person is undergoing treatment at PGIMER, Chandigarh.”

Bilaspur police station house officer Jagdish Chander said, “A bullet pierced through stomach of injured Gandhi, to his back. He is in stable condition.”

The SHO said three arrested accused were produced in the district court on Wednesday, which granted 3-day police remand of Nitesh and sent Shubham and Simarpreet to judicial custody.
