Passerby beaten on head with metal object in brutal robbery

A man was hospitalised during a brutal robbery in the early hours of Christmas Day.

Between the hours of 1am and 1.30am, the man, aged 28, was walking near to a bus stop where he was approached by an unknown person or group.

He was then struck on the head with a metal object and knocked to the ground in the attack in Middlesbrough, as reported by Teesside Live.

The victim was then continually assaulted for a further 30 seconds, where he proceeded to lose conciousness.

He then later attended James Cook University Hospital to receive treatment for his head and facial injuries.

The man had later discovered a mobile phone and an amount of money had been stolen from him during the incident.

Cleveland Police have urged for anyone with information/ CCTV or dash cam footage which could help on-going enquiries to contact the force via the 101 number. Please quote ref CVP-21-218074.
