Passengers were left bemused when they boarded a plane to discover one of the flight attendants was hiding in the overhead luggage compartment.
The surreal moment on board a Southwest Airlines flight from Nashville to Philadelphia was captured on video by passenger Veronica Lloyd.
Alongside a brief clip, she wrote on Twitter: “I can’t get over how weird I find this. @SouthwestAir please get it together.” She added: "Is this a dream."
The footage shows a female attendant in her black and red uniform lying in the overhead locker and poking her head out, with one leg hanging over the side.
Ms Lloyd told Fox News that she remained there “for a solid 10 minutes”.
Southwest Airlines said in a statement: "Southwest employees are known for demonstrating their sense of humour and unique personalities.
"In this instance, one of our flight attendants attempted to have a brief moment of fun with customers during boarding.
"Of course, this is not our normal procedure, and Southwest crews always maintain Safety as their top priority."
