Passengers lucky to escape serious injury as Luas collides with car in Tallaght

Luas services in Dublin were suspended on Sunday afternoon after a tram collided with a car near a stop in West Dublin.

The scary incident happened this afternoon near the Cheeverstown stop on Katherine Tynan Road in Tallaght.

Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene where, thankfully, no serious injuries were reported.

Services were suspended between Saggart and Belgard on the Red Line as the accident was cleared up, but have since resumed this evening.

"Gardaí attended the scene of a traffic collision between a car and a tram earlier this afternoon in the Cheeverstown area of Dublin," a Garda spokesperson told Dublin Live.

"The scene has since been cleared.

"No serious injuries have been reported at this stage."
