Passengers feel physically sick after mum and toddler's "disgusting" act on plane

A photo of a mum cutting her toddler's toenails in front of other passengers on a flight has sparked outrage online.

The image was shared on Instagram with the hashtag #PassengerShaming and sees the woman hunched over the child who is on her lap.

She has been criticised for not going to the toilets, considering the health risks of performing personal hygiene and grooming in an enclosed space.

IG user sweeneysaidso, who claims to "fly a lot, and take pictures of whatever annoys me or makes me happy", posted the controversial snap on Monday, causing a stir.

He appeared to be on an American Airlines flight, with the caption reading: "Why [is] this lady clipping her toddler’s toenails on the lane? #backofthebus #passengershaming."

One commenter put the vomiting emoji and another said "WTF".

While bcmartingirl wrote: "She does have the 'can I speak to your manager' hair" - referring to a popular meme about women who demand to speak to management during arguments with customer service personnel."

In recent months, many photos have emerged on Instagram account Passenger Shaming of people doing everything from putting in false eyelashes and painting their nails to a woman resting her feet on a train tray table to trim her toenails.

One post claimed a woman was "popping zits" on a man's nose before she started "pulling nose hairs", with other bizarre behaviour including a woman performing yoga in her seat.

In response, social media users are often conflicted, with some claiming there is nothing wrong with certain activities though many say it is against common decency and very selfish.

Flight attendants, meanwhile, have warned fliers against storing trimmed bits of toenails and used tissues, among other unhygienic items, in the seat pockets.

Bare feet is said to be one of the most common problems aboard planes, with one photo showing a woman stretching hers up against the window while she slept.
