Passenger sues Carnival Cruise over ‘life changing injury’

  • Florida resident Jorge Luis Alverio Nunez is suing Carnival for over $5 million, claiming he suffered severe second-degree burns on his feet on the Lido deck of the Carnival Magic ship.
  • Nunez alleges the deck was "unreasonably and dangerously hot," causing injuries within seconds while he walked barefoot from the pool to his lounge chair in May 2025.
  • The lawsuit states that Carnival had been warned by the deck manufacturer as early as 2014 about the potential for the surface to become dangerously hot.
  • Carnival is accused of failing to implement safety measures such as replacing the deck material, posting warning signs, monitoring temperatures, or requiring passengers to wear shoes.
  • The lawsuit also claims at least 25 other passengers experienced similar burn incidents and 42 filed complaints in the six years prior, with two previous cases allegedly leading to amputations.
