Passenger sets up projector on flight to watch film and people are divided

There are plenty of travel tips to help you stay entertained on a flight, but there's nothing quite like a film or TV show to pass the time, whether on your tablet or the plane seat's screen.

However one lad was clearly unimpressed by the lack of big screens available - so he packed a projector to watch his film.

A fellow passenger captured the moment on film, which he shared on Instagram. In the short clip, the cabin's lights are turned down but you can see the film clearly projected onto the overhead cabins.

They explained in the video: "This guy set up a projector mid flight and started watching a film. I've seen it all!"

In a tongue-in-cheek post, the TSA shared the clip on their own Instagram page, to explain the rules around packing gadgets for flights in the US, and it's quickly gone viral.

However, people are divided as to whether the lad is a "hero" or "inconsiderate".

Some people slammed the move, with one person asking: "Is everyone traveling by air allowed to act like it's their own private world these days? Or anything for attention? What happened to standardization?"

Another added: "Wow, imagine being so inconsiderate".

Others pointed out that it would be difficult to hear the movie without being "disruptive to everyone", adding that it was the equivalent of people who listen to their phones on speakers in public.

Still, others appeared impressed by the move, especially as he had put subtitles on the film, with one person describing him as "the hero we need".

"Honestly I'd be into it," wrote one person. Another added: "I mean, was a rule broken? As long as there was no nudity or obscene violence and he was using headphones."

"Please, tell me he bought all the three seats in the middle aisle to lay down too," quipped another traveller.

Others were still unsure as to whether it was acceptable to play a film like this in a public space.

"Can’t tell if this is terribly rude, or considerate?" wrote one person. "Perhaps both somehow."

Of course the unwritten rules of flight etiquette can be quite difficult to navigate, with plenty of passengers infuriating others whether that's by getting their bare feet out or demanding that a seat be switched.

In fact, one woman recently revealed how a situation escalated after a mum tried to nab her window seat.

When she boarded the plane, she was confused when she noticed "a lady and her child" sitting in her aisle.

She took to Reddit to vent: "The lady is in the middle and the child (maybe three or four?) is in my seat. I didn't board late - I was one of the early groups, so she just preemptively took the window. You have to pay extra for that.

"I walked up and very politely tell her it was my seat. I never, not once, raised my voice or lost my temper."

The woman did not take kindly to it, however, replying: "Are you SERIOUS?" when she was asked to move, later telling her she didn't have to "be such a b***h".
