Passenger Services Committee visits Vizag railway station

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Passenger Services Committee (PSC) from the Railway Board consisting of three members arrived in Port City to inspect various Railway stations over Waltair Division on Wednesday. The committee members are Jayantilal Jain, Surama Padhy and Gangadhar Talupula.

The PSC Committee inspected Vizianagaram, Srikakulam Road stations on Monday, Rayagada and Bobbili Railway stations on Tuesday and and Visakhapatnam railway station on Wednesday in the division.

The inspection was focused on basic passenger amenities like availability of drinking water facilities, waiting hall facilities, toilet facilities, platform shelters, foot overbridges, sitting arrangements for passengers, working of lifts & escalators, catering stalls, food courts, and others, which were inspected thoroughly.

The cleanliness of the station areas and the hygiene of the food items available in catering stalls were also examined by the committee members.

During their inspection, the members interacted with the passengers at waiting halls, food courts, on the platform to get feedback from them. A positive response from the rail users delighted the team and they appreciated the efforts of the divisional authorities for maintaining cleanliness, modern passenger amenities, and information dissemination systems.

Prior to the inspection of the PSC team over the division, Anup Satpathy, divisional railway manager of Waltair, interacted with the members of the committee and discussed various issues on passenger facilities and developmental activities. DRM assured that the division is taking every effort to provide the best service to the passengers.

After the completion of the inspection by the PSC team, ADRM Sudhir Gupta, who accompanied the team during the inspection, held a review meeting with the members. The members expressed satisfaction over the inspection and feedback from the rail users. Sr. DCM AK Tripathi, Sr.DEN ( Head Quarters) Prabhakar Rao, and other officers from electrical, Signal & Telecom, Civil Engineering, and other wings were present.
