Passenger rushed to hospital after United Airlines flight makes emergency landing in Dublin Airport

A flight from the US to Scotland had to divert to Dublin Airport this morning after a medical emergency.

The United Airlines flight from Washington Dulles was due to land in Scotland at around 10.40am - but made the diversion after someone fell in on board.

The flight landed in Dublin this morning shortly before 10am with a spokeswoman from the DAA confirming it departed for Edinburgh again at 11.55am.

She said: "I can confirm that Dublin Airport received a flight diversion this morning.  Flight UA 146 from Washington to Edinburgh was diverted here due to a medical emergency.   I understand a passenger was taken to Beaumont Hospital.

"The flight departed for Edinburgh at 11.55"

It's understood the emergency was declared while flight UA146 was over the Atlanic ocean.

The pilot opted to go for Dublin with a passenger's husband telling the Evening News in Scotland everyone looked 2seriously stressed".

He said: ""They were told because of a medical emergency they'd be landing in Dublin.

"They didn't give anymore details but the crew looked seriously stressed."
