A passenger has praised an Aer Lingus crew for their professionalism in tough conditions on Wednesday evening.
Flight EI3806 from Edinburgh to Cork was to land shortly before 5pm when the Storm Elsa was at its height.
The plane had to abort the first landing attempt due to the rough conditions and circled over Cork for a time before having a second go, Cork Beo reports.
On second approach, the plane was able to touch down safely - to the relief of everyone onboard.
Passenger Finbarr O'Neill tweeted: "Give the crew of EI3806 tonight early Christmas presents for getting us safely on the ground. Really rough weather for landing but we made it on the second attempt."
Met Eireann issued an orange warning on Wednesday afternoon for Cork only with wind gusts nearing almost 120km/h making for bad flying conditions.
However, Cork Airport was not badly affected with all flights making it in and out of the airport with no diversions or major delays.
