Passenger numbers at Dubai airport fall 66 per cent amid Iran war

Dubai International Airport (DXB) saw its passenger numbers plummet by 65.7 per cent year on year in March, recording 2.5 million travellers.
The significant decline was primarily due to flight restrictions and a temporary suspension of operations following a “drone-related incident” fire near the airport amidst the Iran-US conflict.
Overall, DXB reported 18.6 million passengers in the first quarter, representing a 20.6 per cent decrease compared to the same period last year.
India, Saudi Arabia, and the United Kingdom were the largest country markets for DXB in Q1, with London, Mumbai, and Jeddah being the busiest city destinations.
Following the lifting of airspace restrictions, Dubai Airports is now entering a recovery phase, aiming to increase daily flights and restore airline schedules.
