A man has died this morning following a horror crash in the city.
Police rushed to Belmont Road, at the junction with Breck Road, in Anfield this morning.
Two cars had collided outside the Paisley Gates pub, with both vehicles have suffered significant damage.
A red Vauxhall Corsa had come to a rest on the pavement, inches from the pub, with the blue BMW 530.
In the last 20 minutes, police confirmed the rear passenger in the Corsa, a man, had died shortly after arriving at hospital.
The driver of the same car, a man in his 60s, is seriously hurt in hospital and is in a stable condition.
The crash happened at about 5.30am which also led to traffic lights being damaged in the smash.
The man's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers.
The junction of Belmont Road and Breck Road remains closed while officers carry out investigations at the scene, and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
Part of Oakfield Road was also sealed off.
