Pass the seafood parcel: Online specialist gives customers free fish urging them to 'show you care'

Direct-to-your-door seafood supplier Ish Fish is playing its part in the industry’s bid to get people eating Grimsby’s biggest export more often - by giving free portions out to pass on.

For the month of August the Enterprise Village-based company is running a Show You Care initiative - with the extra package carrying a street value of around £15.

Haddock, dressed crab and salmon has featured, with the tight knit team keen to spread the love of seafood.

“In every box we sell we are putting in fish to pass on to a family member, friend or neighbour,” Garry Bainbridge, director explained.

“We want to get people to eat more fish, so inside every box will be a Show You Care pack, all we ask is people pass them on.”

The online business saw an unprecedented spike in demand through lockdown - with orders up 1,000 per cent for the 2018 start-up.

“It is not as crazy as it was in April and May, but we’ve got a massive audience now so it is down to us how well we do,” Mr Bainbridge said. “We are a better business now after lockdown,  we have better systems in place and learned a lot.”
