Whereabouts: Unknown.
Lost, is she? Yes. Holly's owners, David and Nicola Hunt of Manchester, left Holly in a kennel near Nicola's parents' home in Cornwall while they went on honeymoon. Holly escaped.
Sad, but these things happen. The couple drove straight down from Manchester to look for Holly, but they couldn't find her.
Oh well, at least they know they tried. The Hunts went home, but returned to Cornwall every weekend to put up posters and patrol the area. "After six months it was killing us," says Nicola.
Six months? They kept it up for six months? Then David sold his printing business, Nicola quit her job and the couple moved to a rented cottage near Liskeard to continue the search.
Hang on. Is this dog diamond-encrusted or something? No, just a much-loved family pet.
How long has she been missing? Thirteen months, although she has been sighted several times. She even escaped from David after he and a group of friends cornered her, and managed to leg it on another occasion when a cage door jammed.
No offence, but it sounds as if Lassie doesn't want to come home. "That's not true," says David. "She is thin, frightened and nervous. She is very unhappy, but she doesn't trust anyone enough to come back."
How much has all this cost? David reckons they've spent £7,000 in their ill-fated campaign to reunite themselves with Holly. He is also offering a £2,000 reward to anyone who finds her. "The ridiculous thing is, I didn't want a dog in the first place," says David.
No, that's not the ridiculous thing. Don't be unkind. Locals have volunteered to help the Hunts with their next plan, which involves trying to ensnare Holly in a large net.
Don't say: £2,000? Is that dead or alive?
But do call: 01579 341360 if you see Holly.
